Description
This Burden Basket is 14″ in diameter on top and was hand made by a member of the San Carlos Apache Tribe. The jingles on this basket are exceptional. It has very fine weave.
Burden Baskets are used as reminders to visitors to put their personal problems in the burden basket next to the door at entering ones home. As guardians of the home they were a reminder to respect the happiness and privacy of the family’s sacred space. These baskets are still used today during the Apache Sunrise Ceremonies.
