This incredible real turtle shell ceremonial shield is decorated with two crossing arrows, a beaded rosette, wolf fur, four feathers, many beads, and a little tip of a tail. The actual shield itself is almost 11″ wide and 12″ tall.
A Plains Indian warrior used two shields. One, the war shield was carried into battle. The other was the ceremonial shield which was kept in the lodge. Designs and decorations were very personal and spiritual and extremely powerful to the warrior.
